    prep.

  • among有时相当于one of, 即“…
  • among的用法比amongsta普遍。元音前,多用amongst(很少在美国使用), 如amongst us;
  • among与between的比较:among用在三个或三个以上的人或物前,between是用在两者之间, 与and搭配,如between he and me,但不与among搭配,不能说among A, B and C。 divide或share一些东西的时候,单数名词用divide between和share between,而复数名词用between或among都可。There is a little valley between high mountains.He divided his money between his wife, his daughter and his sister. I shared the food between/among all my friends.
  • 句子He is sitting among his best friends中,He指的不是他最好的朋友中的一个,而句子He is among my best friends中的He是我最好的朋友中的一个;
  • among后有时接不可数名词,如among the furniture和among the turf。
